Why did you choose to attend Tulane SPHTM?

What initially piqued my interest in Tulane SPHTM was its storied past as a medical institution. Upon further research, I discovered that Tulane had a unique perspective on public health education. My favorite initiative was the free weekly French classes, making it easier for students to practice abroad. Tulane was also one of the few schools that offered an MSPH in my specialty, which allowed me to have a greater curricular focus on science-based practice. My graduate education needed to reflect an ethic of community-based leadership. I ultimately felt that New Orleans would be the most vibrant and personally enriching environment to undergo such an endeavor.

Why are you interested in volunteering as an SPHTM Student Ambassador?

There will be a growing need for professionals in the field of environmental health science, and as a future public health practioner I am responsible for cultivating the available workforce.

What's your dream job?

Dr. Ysaye Barnwell has proven that music is a fantastic avenue for coalition building and community empowerment. I'd love to explore how music can be implemented in public health practice.

What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?

Study public health if you need to have it all: public policy, health and medicine, lab science, research, coalition building, and advocacy

Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?

Tulane University choir, pianist, live music, reading, New Orleans history and culture

What is the best thing about being a student at SPHTM thus far?

I am encouraged to have opinions on matters of global importance.
