Why did you choose to attend Tulane SPHTM?
I chose Tulane due to its strong connections to the New Orleans area within public health and disaster management. The Tulane SPHTM faculty and staff have great knowledge and resources to many local, state, and national offices that they bring to the classroom. Opportunities were shown and offered walking into Tidewater's doors.
Why are you interested in volunteering as an SPHTM Student Ambassador?
I am interested in volunteering as a SPHTM Student Ambassador because of my experience going through the admissions process and how one of the ambassadors helped me choose Tulane with honesty and a realistic view. I hope to continue that with future Tulane SPHTM students and show them why Tulane could be a great choice for them.
What's your dream job?
I hope to work within disaster medicine which could be resource management, planning and implementation, or as an emergency medicine physician. I am hoping that the MPH- Disaster Management program will help guide me toward a clearer understanding of my path in the field.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
I would say recognize that the field has a wide range of possibilities. Every day at Tulane, I meet other students who have a distinct field they are interested in that I never knew existed. There are many ways to combine a multitude of interests across different fields into a focus on public health.
Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?
I can be seen playing in local soccer and volleyball leagues and watching Survivor on Wednesday nights. I also love to travel and took a gap year to intern in England and travel throughout Europe.
What is the best thing about being a student at SPHTM thus far?
Easily the community of students, faculty, and staff at Tulane SPHTM. I have felt incredibly welcome into a community that encompasses so many walks of life. This multitude of human experiences impacts the classroom, organizations, and social atmosphere to create an academically challenging, yet rewarding environment.
