The school offers a number of opportunities to engage in public health leadership on campus and in the surrounding community.
The Student Government Association is the student leadership body for the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM SGA). Under its umbrella are:
- Healthcare Management Student Leadership Association (HMSLA): HMSLA is an organization for students in Health Policy and Management.
- Public Health Doctoral Students (PHDS): PHDS fosters collaboration within the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM) to achieve excellence in doctoral education and professional development.
- SALUD for Latin American Communities: SALUD helps improve awareness of Latin American health issues.
- Society for Young Black Public Health Professionals "Society": The Society is a professional network for all members of the SPHTM community.
- Students for Sexual Health Equity (SSHE): (SSHE) offers a public health forum for the intersection of health, gender, and sexuality, with a particular focus on their relevance in marginalized communities.
Other Student Organizations
- Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health: Eta Chapter is the SPHTM chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society.
- Graduate and Professional Student Association (GAPSA): GAPSA is the unifying body of the graduate and professional divisions of Tulane University.
- Local New Orleans Organizations: 194 Great New Orleans organizations for getting involved in your local community. Being involved is vital for creating public health programming.
