The School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM) Student Government Association (SGA) represents the entire student body in collaboration with administration and faculty to address student needs and concerns.

Student involvement is encouraged and reflected in representation on various school committees including the Executive Committee, Finance Committee, and Alumni Association Board. The SPHTM SGA also has five senatorial seats in the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GAPSA), through which students can participate in all aspects of university-wide student government.

SGA activities include the coordination of community support functions and sponsorship of social and professional development events. Learn how SGA supports student travel to public health-related conferences.

SPHTM SGA is governed by a constitution with officers elected annually. Meet your 2024-2025 Executive Board below!

Why SGA: I chose to join SGA to strengthen relationships between SPHTM students, staff, faculty, and the New Orleans community. As public health students, we can learn numerous public health practices through the local community, and I hope to highlight those opportunities and experiences within SPHTM. I also plan to advocate for students and create more areas for student voices to be heard in Tulane SPHTM. I hope to be an exciting, welcoming spirit for all students at Tulane SPHTM, and to create a dynamic learning community.

  • Degree in progress: MPH (Epidemiology)
  • Hometown: Ahmedabad, India
  • Undergraduate Degree: BDS (Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery)
  • Public Health Interests: Chronic Diseases, STI’s

Why SGA: I am interested in joining the Student Government Association (SGA) primarily because of the opportunities to enhance student engagement and provide access to travel reimbursements. Many students are unaware of the available travel reimbursements for attending conferences and workshops. My goals include allocating funds to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), organizing tabling and engagement events, motivating conference attendance for students throughout the year, and improving student activity and overall student life at Tulane University SPHTM.
