Why did you choose to attend Tulane?
Given that Tulane is the very first school of public health, it has a wide variety of areas of study and opportunities that are offered to students. I have only ever heard positive things of Tulane and given that I plan to go to medical school and become an OBGYN, I was looking for something related to my career plans. I was so excited to learn that there was a Maternal and Child Health department that I just knew I had to attend Tulane Public Health. There are so many different classes offered to students that you'll always have the chance to learn new and interesting things. I knew I couldn't pass up the opportunity to attend.
Why are you interested in volunteering as a student ambassador?
I recognize that my achievements are rooted in someone opening doors for me or giving me opportunities to succeed. While my achievements are my own, they could not have been done without the support of those around me. I am interested in being a student ambassador because I hope that maybe I can support those around me in turn and encourage them to do things that gives them the opportunity to succeed as well.
What's your dream job?
My dream job is to be a local OBGYN in the New Orleans area after attending medical school.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
Public health careers are often focused on systemic change. We currently live in a world where systems that were build to benefit people, are no longer doing so. Public health has many specialties to there is a wide variety of options to turn to. It is something that will always be needed as it focuses on collective well-being. Getting a degree in public health offers a broader viewpoint on what "well-being" truly is and how it varies amongst people. Being able to see the bigger picture is not something everyone can do, but it is an incredible tool that will benefit everyone.
Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?
Pickleball, Swimming, Volleyball, Reading, Yoga
