Why did you choose to attend Tulane?
I chose Tulane Public Health because I had a great experience during my undergrad here, and I knew the faculty and resources would continue to support my academic and career goals in biostatistics. The program’s strong focus on data science was also appealing to my future aspirations in the field.
Why are you interested in volunteering as an SPHTM Student Ambassador?
I want to share my positive experiences at Tulane with prospective students. I value the education and opportunities I’ve received here and would love to help others see how Tulane can support their academic and career goals. Additionally, as a teaching assistant in the biostatistics department, I’ve noticed a strong interest from undergraduates in the graduate program. Serving as a Student Ambassador would give me the opportunity to connect with these students and provide guidance.
What's your dream job?
I have a variety of aspirations when it comes to my career. My primary goal is to contribute to improving public health through evidence-based, data-driven initiatives. Ideally, I would like to work as a biostatistician or data scientist, applying advanced statistical methods to support meaningful health outcomes. However, I’m also flexible and open to adapting to the needs of the projects I’m involved in, ensuring that my skills are aligned with the mission and impact of the work. Ultimately, I’m driven by the desire to make a positive, measurable difference in public health through data and collaboration.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
Public health is a noble and impactful field where you truly have the opportunity to make a profound difference in the world through your work. However, it’s not without its challenges. The work can be intimidating at times, but one of the most important lessons you’ll learn—especially at Tulane—is the value of collaboration. Relying on your colleagues and mentors will help you navigate the obstacles you face. While the journey can be demanding, the skills you gain and the rewarding outcomes make it all worthwhile.
