Why did you choose to attend Tulane?

After visiting the MPH school and meeting with the associate director of the Tulane Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health, Dr. Shokufeh Ramierz, and other faculty and staff members at Tulane SPHTM, I fell in love with the program even more. I instantly felt welcomed with open arms. I admired the program, and the way the faculty and staff care about the students, and their overall well-being. I chose Tulane’s maternal and child health program because it connects to my long-term goals of becoming a midwife and eventually opening up an all-black birthing center.

Why are you interested in volunteering as a student ambassador?

I would love to recruit students at HBCUs and talk about my current experience here at Tulane SPHTM coming from an HBCU.

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to work in the maternal and child health field.

What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?

With a degree in public health, there are so many fields you can work in. Before deciding which career route you want to follow, conduct research on the many occupations you may have with a public health degree, and shadow various professions in those fields.

Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?

Some of my hobbies include switching up my hair, listening to music, being outdoors, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. Some of my interests include the maternal and child health field, anything public health-related, sports, music, fashion, and movies from the 90s and early 2000s.

What is the best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far?

The best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far is I am confident that I will pass all of my classes and graduate with a master's degree due to the support of my professors and the staff at the school.
