Biography
Joni Steinberg is a professor emerita and management scientist/operations researcher with a focus on applying these methods in health services and public health environments. Her teaching has been in the areas of quantitative decision models/operations management, decision analysis, financial management of health institutions, management information systems, and health systems, management and policy. She has taught internationally for Tulane in the executive master's of medical management (MMM) program both in Taiwan (for Taiwanese military physicians) and with INCAE (for Central American physicians) in Costa Rica, as well as in Tulane's MPH program for the Show Chwan Health Care System in Taiwan. She has worked as a management consultant on a range of hospital system process, nurse productivity and information system projects. She received her PhD in management science and her MPH from Tulane University and her MS in industrial engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She has received teaching awards in the MMM and Executive Doctor of Science Programs, the SPHTM Scholar Award, and the SPHTM Outstanding Commitment Award.
