Biography
Tyra Mitchell-Williams is a clinical instructor in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Her academic interests include healthcare artificial intelligence, health policy, advocacy, leadership, and ethics in healthcare organizations and professional boards.
Prior to joining the Department of Health Policy and Management, Tyra was a professor of practice and associate program director in the Tulane kinesiology department. She designed kinesiology undergraduate and graduate courses, mentored students and faculty, and served as the internship coordinator for the program. Additionally, Tyra has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association holding various chair and director positions within the Academy of Leadership and Innovation (ALI). Tyra was appointed by the Governor to serve as the at-large board member of the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board where she assisted in various projects including research on workforce data for physical therapists. Tyra has worked as a clinician, healthcare leader, and administrator in five states and Washington, D.C. during her career. Currently, she teaches courses addressing healthcare policy, management, ethics, and leadership at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
