Andrew Andrada, MSPH

Andrew Andrada is a seasoned and driven doctoral student in the Department of International Health and Sustainable Development and works at the Center for Applied Malaria Research and Evaluation (CAMRE). His research interests focus on the implementation of malaria programs and the use of routine health information system data to improve malaria outcomes in endemic settings. With experience in evaluating the impact of national malaria control programs and managing nationally representative surveys in sub-Saharan Africa, Andrew is determined to strengthen his methodological foundations, theoretical frameworks, and application of population-based evaluation research through his doctorate degree.

At CAMRE, Andrew has collaborated on an analysis of Zambia's scale-up of piperonyl butoxide long-lasting insecticide treated nets and an assessment of Zambia's national vector control micro-planning. He's currently working on a process evaluation of Zambia's rectal artesunate intervention package.

Prior to joining Tulane, Andrew has held key roles in his professional career across various research projects. At Population Services International, Andrew managed nationally representative surveys in Zambia and Madagascar with a focus on gathering market data on antimalarial medicines, malaria rapid diagnostic tests, and fever case management, through the ACTwatch project. In his most recent role, Andrew was a Senior Surveillance, Monitoring, and Evaluation Specialist at ICF. He provided technical support to countries through the USAID-funded President's Malaria Initiative MEASURE Evaluation and Measure Malaria projects. His responsibilities included leading national assessments of malaria surveillance systems and developing a malaria routine data quality tool for endemic countries.

Andrew's public health journey began with a Master of Science in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Now at Tulane, he is eager to continue his academic pursuit and make a positive impact on international health and sustainable development.
