Biography
Shalini Kulasingam is an epidemiologist and decision modeler. Her research interests lie at the intersection of infection and cancer, with a particular interest in cancer with viral origins, including human papillomavirus. Her current research program focuses on breast and HPV-related cancers, using simulation modeling and epidemiologic data to inform policy and highlight and address areas for further research. Other areas of research and interest include use of secondary data to identify risk factors for cancer, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of new screening tests for cancer and implementation and integration of novel and existing screening tests for cancer. In addition to work in the United States, she has partnerships in Ghana and Tanzania, with work on increasing breast and cervical cancer screening uptake and effectiveness. Prior to joining Tulane University, she was a Professor at the University of Minnesota.
