Why did you choose to pursue your MPH at Tulane SPHTM?
I choose to come to Tulane for many reasons. I wanted a new change in my life as I have always lived in New York and thought New Orleans would be a great city to pursue my MPH and connect with a community that has shown resilience in the face of many tragedies. The rich history of New Orleans and its culture, food, and music was also a huge influence in my desire to pursue my degree at Tulane. Additionally, Tulane SPHTM has a great MCH program which would allow me to work with faculty such as Dr. Shokufeh Ramirez and others that could shape me into the public health practitioner I hope to be. Lastly, having the ability to connect with Tulane SPHTM’s massive alumni network was also a major draw.
What are your MPH/MCH interests and your career goals?
My research interests are Black maternal and infant mortality, Black maternal morbidity, health equity, nutrition, and maternity care deserts. I plan to be a midwife/Family Nurse Practitioner and eventually open my own clinic focusing on holistic health for all.
What are your interests outside of school?
I love taking walks around my neighborhood, read books new worlds and about places I’ve never been or cultures I’m interested in learning more about, and exploring new places around New Orleans.
