Biography
Gloria Igihozo (she/her) is a PhD student at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, in the International Health and Sustainable Development Department. She is interested in health systems strengthening and health services research, with a focus on how community-based participatory research can be used to co-create holistic and sustainable global health programs in low-resource settings in Rwanda and across sub-Saharan Africa.
Igihozo is a graduate of the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) with a Master of Science in Global Health Delivery, and holder of a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from Messiah University. Prior to joining Tulane, she was as a lecturer in the Masters program at UGHE, a role that involved teaching, research, curriculum development and student mentorship. She also served as a One Health Coordinator at UGHE, conducting research to map out Rwanda's One Health infrastructure and assessing how principles of One Health were used in the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Igihozo is a qualitative researcher whose research has focused on a variety of topics, including one health governance, HIV prevention and treatment services for key populations, gender and neglected tropical diseases, and nutrition, among others.
