We’ve endured two very difficult years of COVID-19. While progress has been made in fighting this scourge, more danger lies ahead. Our longstanding Tulane and Vietnamese American Partnership has a new initiative to help our local Vietnamese American community protect itself – and especially its vulnerable elderly members – against the horrible coronavirus. This new initiative is called Âu Cơ, for “Âugmenting Cơvid-19 Testing Among Vietnamese Americans.” As you know, Âu Cơ is a classic figure in Vietnamese mythology - the daughter of the Fairy King of the mountains, the original mother of the Vietnamese, and a tireless champion and protector of her people’s health. We will be inspired by Âu Cơ as we continue our collaborative work with our Vietnamese American friends throughout the Year of the Tiger and beyond.
