Susannah Burley has a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University. From 2012-2016, she served as Program Director at Parkway Partners. In 2016 she founded SOUL to reforest New Orleans at a meaningful scale strategically and as a system, and they have planted nearly 10,000 trees. She and her family live in Mid-City.

Tyler Antrup headshot
Tyler Antrup is an urban planner, designer, climate activist, and educator. He is a visiting assistant professor at Tulane University’s School of Architecture. His teaching focuses on sustainable real estate development, urban planning and design, climate adaptation, green stormwater infrastructure planning and design, and issues of equity and racial disparity in urban development. He is also a member of the Board of Directors as the District D representative on the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans.

Riley Essert serves as the Youth and Environmental Programs Manager for Groundwork NOLA, where she teaches residents and youth about green infrastructure through an equity lens. She manages a year-round high school internship program centered on stormwater management and is dedicated to involving youth in climate adaptation efforts and discussions. Riley is passionate about fostering more community engagement in green projects and inspiring the next generation to advocate for the changes they want to see.

Mina Seck has been working with Sprout since January 2022. Prior to her time at Sprout, she was in the culinary world with a focus on local and sustainably grown foods. She has always been fueled by food and the connection to humans through feeding them.

A native New Orleanian, Michael Richard II runs Recirculating Farms sites in Central City, New Orleans, and oversees other partner farms. He has more than 10 years of experience working with diverse populations in local food and wellness and has been on the leadership team of the Greater New Orleans Growers Alliance and a Food Policy Action Council member. Michael holds a BA in Sociology from Southeastern University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Law and Policy at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.

Catherine Sckerl headshot
Catherine Sckerl, AIA, AICP is an architect and urbanist whose research and practice crosses four, interdisciplinary areas: urban design and planning; cultural heritage and vernacular architecture; urban theory; and participatory or co-creative practice and research methods. Sckerl’s professional practice centers on sustainable urban design and planning, and her projects incorporate community engagement, cultural heritage, and environmentally conscious strategies. In her research, Sckerl is particularly interested in critical questions about representation and participation within the built environment, exploring ways that vernacular knowledges and practices contribute to urban character and placemaking. Her past research has addressed themes of participatory design and architectural heritage at places ranging from New Orleans, LA to St. Petersburg, Russia to Venice, Italy.

Fiona Yuedall headshot
Dr. Fiona Yuedall, is the Director of the School of Nutrition and Associate Director of the Centre for Studies in Food Security at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research focuses on the role of sustainable livelihoods & food systems in food & nutrition security. Most recently, she is collaborating on a food systems approach to increasing availability of and access to a locally produced fortified complementary food in Northern Vietnam. Past work focused on the role of urban agriculture in food & livelihood security in Canada, Kenya and Uganda and training to build capacity among municipal actors for Sustainable City Region Food Systems policies and practices in Canada and Kenya. Her doctoral work at the University of Otago was conducted in rural Malawi, assessing the impact of food-based household-level level dietary diversification strategies on the food and nutrition security of preschool children of
