A Discussion with Dr. Deanna Wathington: Forward in Health
Monday April 6th 4:30 pm - 6:15 pm
Join the Gulf Scholars Program and the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, along with the Murphy Institute at Tulane University, as we welcome Dr. Deanna Wathington to our campus on Monday, April 6 at 5:15pm in the Freeman Auditorium on the Uptown Campus to present her talk "Forward in Health”, focusing on recent US health policy, and the opportunities for current students to get involved in future-focused solutions. A networking mixer will take place in Woodward Way before the talk at 4:30pm.
The Gulf Scholars Program (GSP) welcomes Dr. Deanna Wathington to Tulane because her expertise directly advances the program's core goals of preparing Gulf-region undergraduates to tackle community health and resilience challenges through equity-focused, community-engaged leadership.
The Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (WSPH) aims to introduce our audiences to the innovations and leadership values from distinguished leaders in public health through engaging in cross-disciplinary events. Dr. Wathington’s visit kicks of a series of events taking place on both campuses during National Public Health Week.
With a body of work over 25 years advancing health equity, maternal and child health, clinical-community linkages, and diversity in health professions, Dr. Wathington exemplifies the co-hosts emphasis on multidisciplinary problem-solving and social responsibility in addressing Gulf South inequities like infant mortality and neighborhood health disparities. Join us to learn more about this work and how to get involved in building a safer, more resilient Gulf.
