Rie Yotsu, MD, MIPH, DTM&H, PhD

Rie Yotsu is a dermatologist, and with her interest in global health, has cultivated her expertise in skin infections. She especially has longstanding track record of her contributions to the field of skin-related neglected tropical diseases, or the ‘skin NTDs’. Skin NTDs is a set of NTDs which manifest with skin symptoms, such as leprosy, Buruli ulcer, yaws, lymphatic filariasis, mycetoma, and scabies.

Berlin Londoño-Renteria, PhD, MSc

Dr. Londoño is currently the lead scientist of the Arbovirology and Immunology Laboratory. Her research is focused on the characterization of mosquito salivary proteins as markers for disease risk and transmission dynamics. She is also looking at the interactions between immunodominant salivary proteins and vertebrate skin cells (Fibroblast, mast cells, and dendritic cells) to characterize their role in disease progression and pathogenesis. Remi L. Landry, MPHTM

Remi is a PhD student in the Department of Tropical Medicine at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is a graduate student researcher at the Tulane National Primate Research Center working under the supervision of Dr. Monica Embers. Remi grew up in Louisiana where she received her Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences and Minor in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2013. Prior to her doctoral studies, Remi received her MPH in Tropical Medicine from Tulane University, where she researched vector-borne illnesses.

Hans Desale, MPH&TM

Hans Desale is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Tropical Medicine at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, working in the lab of Dr. Eric Dumonteil and Dr. Claudia Herrera focused on the research and control of Chagas Disease. 

Research interests include one health, implementation science, and genetic epidemiology to better understand parasitic and vector-borne diseases.  

Will Eaton, MPH

Will Eaton is a PhD student in the Department of Tropical Medicine at Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. He earned an MPH in global epidemiology from the Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH).

Brendan Carter

Brendan Carter is a doctoral student in Dr. Wesson’s laboratory in Vector-borne Infectious Diseases Research Center (VBDIRC) within the Department of Tropical Medicine at the Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Cell & Molecular Biology and Public Health as well as a master’s degree in Tropical Medicine from Tulane.
