FIMRC Global Health Volunteer Program - Employer Information Session with SPHTM Career Services

Tuesday October 8th 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Room: Online
Description:

FIMRC is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization dedicated to improving access to healthcare for families around the world through the implementation of innovative and self-sustaining health programs. Through its network of outpatient clinics and partnerships, FIMRC asserts a multidimensional strategy that includes clinical services, extensive community outreach efforts, and health education programs.

As FIMRC has been recovering post pandemic, we are excited to announce that Project Alajuelita in Costa Rica, Project Anconcito in Ecuador and Project Bududa in Uganda are now open to on-site volunteers. The following are overviews of each site:

Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica site is a small community clinic that serves a population of Nicaraguan refugees, so in addition to the daily patient consults, the staff there also does community outreach to a variety of partners and locations to provide health education, mobile clinics and the like.

Project Anconcito, Ecuador is a 100% outreach site focused on home visits and child nutrition and is run by our staff nutritionist and her team of volunteer medics who screen kids for malnutrition and anemia and helps adults manage their diabetes and hypertension, and provide referrals to a partnering government health center as needed.

Project Bududa, Uganda consists of a large clinic that sees anywhere from 70-200 patients per day, mostly dealing with malaria, pneumonia and maternal and child health care. There is also an outreach department that goes out into the field to give immunizations, home visits and provide health education.
