Dr. Lu Qi to serve as interim chair of Department of Epidemiology

Effective August 1, Dr. Lu Qi will become interim chair of the Department of Epidemiology at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. A national search is ongoing to fill the position left by Dr. Jiang He, who served as chair for two very successful decades.

Qi has been with the school since 2015. He is the HCA Regents Chair and Professor of Epidemiology, the director of the Tulane Obesity Research Center, and the director of the Tulane Personalized Health Institute. He holds a medical degree from Peking University and a doctoral degree in nutrition and epidemiology from Tufts University. Qi is a prolific researcher with well over 200 scientific publications to his name.
