VPI hosting 'Field Day on the Green Way' to bring community closer together
Violence prevention takes community. It extends beyond a sense of belonging to include strong support systems and equitable structures. This is especially true for young people and their families, and, as such, we all have a role to play in preventing youth exposure to violence. That’s what National Youth Violence Prevention Week is about - creating communities with opportunities to thrive.
The Center for Youth Equity at the Violence Prevention Institute invites the community to come together for a Field Day on the Green Way. This free event will offer a variety of opportunities for folks of all ages to play. Building relationships, physical activity, and social connection are all protective factors against youth exposure to violence, and we're hoping other organizations in the area join us in offering opportunities during this field day.
Field Day on the Green Way is on Wednesday, April 26 from 4 to 6 pm near the Lemann basketball courts, fields, and clubhouse.
If you are interested in hosting an activity, please click the button below to complete a sign-up form. While we can help with brainstorming activities, individuals and organizations will be responsible for bringing their own supplies and volunteers for their activities.
We look forward to connecting with you on this project and other events associated with National Youth Violence Prevention Week.
