Study Abroad for Undergraduate Public Health Studies

Studying abroad provides students the opportunity to gain a global perspective on public health disciplines through living and studying in another country and culture. There are many international programs that work well with the Undergraduate Public Health Studies curriculum and that allow students to integrate a semester or a summer abroad into their studies. 

Study Abroad for Public Health Majors

This list of study abroad programs has been evaluated for public health elective credit and includes preapproved accepted classes. Use this handout to inform your class selection before seeking departmental approval. Students are welcome to go on other study abroad programs with departmental approval.

All study abroad public health courses are transferred as SPHU 5380/5390 or as SPHU 4580 Capstone. 

Programs that offer opportunities to complete a Capstone abroad are marked with * on the list. Students are eligible to complete their Capstone during the last three semesters of coursework. For students interested in completing their Capstone abroad, the study abroad program typically takes place during spring of junior year, summer after junior year, or fall senior year.

Contact OSA for information on how courses taken abroad can count towards your major or minor.

Applying to Study Abroad

Students interested in studying abroad can get more information and start an application on the Office of Study Abroad website.

The study abroad application is a two-step process. Students must first apply to Tulane OSA and then to their chosen program or host university. Check out the OSA site for information on how to apply, including deadlines and eligibility.
