The Eta Chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society coordinates a few events over the academic year. Send us an email if you have ideas for events for our chapter!
Fall/Winter Semester
Annual Business Meeting
The members of the Eta Chapter will convene annually. Local members are encouraged to attend. Officers will be selected for membership at this time. The annual meeting is generally held in October-November, and attendance is open to all Eta Chapter members.
Spring Semester
Public Health Poster Competition
The Eta Chapter sponsors an annual poster competition to display research and related work completed by SPHTM students. All SPHTM students are eligible to participate, including those in joint degree programs and the undergrad public health program. Both the first and second place winners receive a cash prize and are encouraged to submit their abstract to the national poster contest sponsored by ASPPH. All poster contest participants receive a certificate of participation. The contest is usually held in April.
Best Doctoral Dissertation Award
Every year the Eta Chapter grants an award to the most outstanding doctoral dissertation written by an SPHTM student. Each department can submit no more than two doctoral dissertations with a letter of nomination to the committee chair. Students please contact your department representative if you would like to be considered. The winner will be recognized at the SPHTM Awards Ceremony generally held in April.
New Member Nominations - Students, Faculty, Alumni and Honorary
Membership election occurs in the spring semester of each academic year. Students that graduated in August and December of the academic year and those that will graduate in May of the academic year are eligible for nomination. Alumni and faculty nominees are submitted by each department, as well as nominations for honorary membership. Learn more about nomination eligibility.
Induction of New Members
The induction ceremony honoring the newly elected members will be held in May, and nominees will be recognized in conjunction with the SPHTM Awards Ceremony (generally occurs the week of spring commencement ceremonies).
