Current and future deans speak out on border policy

We oppose separating children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border. This practice is a clear public health concern, with ample scientific evidence linking childhood trauma and parental separation to both short- and long-term adverse health effects. We stand in support of statements by the American Public Health Association (APHA), Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), and the Consortium of Universities of Global Health (CUGH) calling for the administration to put people – especially children – above politics by ending this inhumane and unnecessary practice.
