SBPS 6150: Taiwan Strategies to Community Health Practices (3 summer course credits)

- This course provides a field study opportunity in Taiwan with the aims of learning global public health practices Cross-culture communication and interaction, and alternative community health strategies.
- A maximum of 12 Tulane students are paired with a maximum of 12 Taiwan students to form cross-cultural teams to research and solve community health problems identified in the field study.
- Taiwan's health care system is one of the most sophisticated in the world and students spend two weeks learning about health care structures, health promotion practices, and public health in a global lens.
- The course includes hands-on learning about health approaches on all levels, from national to local, through visits in two major metropolitan areas. Topics include universal health care, epidemiological surveillance, disease prevention, traditional Chinese medicine, and health promotion.
