Why did you choose to attend Tulane SPHTM?

I decided to attend Tulane SPHTM because I know that the MPH program at Tulane will prepare me for a leadership role that will allow me to promote health equity and address health disparities globally. I desire to acquire the academic and professional tools that will help me educate people and advocate for fair healthcare treatment for all. This program matches my enthusiasm for public health and will allow me to receive mentorship from exceptional professors while exploring a rigorous curriculum. Another aspect that attracted me to Tulane is the variety of research opportunities and the possibility of forming connections with individuals with similar career interests. I also love that Tulane is a service-oriented institution, making its community engagement unparalleled. I wanted to be part of a university that integrates public service into its mission, and that’s what Tulane does. I also chose Tulane because I have a support system in the city, for which I am grateful. There is always something fun to do with family and friends in the city. A huge plus is that the food in NOLA is incredible.

Why are you interested in volunteering as an SPHTM Student Ambassador?

I am interested in volunteering as an SPHTM student ambassador because education is a powerful tool. As a student ambassador, I will help students interested in pursuing a public health career learn about Tulane. I look forward to helping prospective and new students by sharing my experiences and assisting them throughout their time at Tulane SPHTM. I also think that being a student ambassador will allow me to promote a positive school environment and enhance inclusivity. As an Afro-Latina, I believe in the beauty of diversity, so as a volunteer at SPHTM, I look forward to learning from my peers and sharing my background so we can all learn from each other and form long-lasting friendships.

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to become an international public health educator and eventually travel as a public health program specialist for the World Health Organization. I want to focus on maternal and child health, which includes ensuring the health and well-being of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
