Master's Scholarship Information

Merit-based scholarships
All admitted master's students can apply for merit-based scholarship consideration in the admitted student portal in Slate (where you receive the admissions decision). We encourage you to submit your program application ( for on-campus programs it will be via SOPHAS or online programs via Fastlane) by the priority deadline to ensure you are considered for funding. While it is still possible to be awarded a scholarship later in the admissions cycle, this is dependent upon whether funding is still available. We will use your answers provided on the scholarship application, as well as your program application materials, to determine merit-based aid. Scholarship amounts vary.

The process:

  1. Once you are admitted, you will be prompted to complete the scholarship application form (found in the portal).
  2. Once awarded, students will receive their scholarship decision the same way the admissions decision came – via email prompting you to log into the portal.
  3. There is no official deadline for the scholarship application – it will remain open until funds for the year are exhausted.

Louisiana Lagniappe Scholarship
The Louisiana Lagniappe scholarship is an award for on-campus students who graduated from a high school in Louisiana. Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is committed to bringing Louisiana’s best and brightest students back to the bayou state for graduate studies. This scholarship amount is equal to 35% of tuition cost.

Fulbright Scholars
Tulane SPHTM is proud to offer a $50,000 scholarship to Fulbright scholars enrolled full-time in a master’s program. This award is disbursed in equal amounts over four semesters.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteers
SPHTM is deeply passionate about the mission of the Peace Corps and are dedicated to supporting volunteers throughout their academic careers. We offer incoming returned peace corps volunteers a scholarship equal to 35% of tuition.

Paul D. Coverdell Fellowship
Managed by the SPHTM Office of Global Scholars, the Paul D. Coverdell Fellowship is awarded to three returning Peace Corps volunteers each year. The application for the Coverdell scholarship will display to eligible students within the admitted student portal and has a deadline of February 15 each year.

McNair Scholars
Tulane SPHTM offers a scholarship in the amount of 50% of tuition to McNair scholars enrolled full time in master’s programs.

Please note that if you belong to more than one of these groups, you will receive the higher value scholarship.

The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) is also a useful resource for options on financing your degree.
