Why did you choose to attend Tulane SPHTM?
I chose to pursue my MPH at Tulane SPHTM because I completed my undergraduate studies in public health at Tulane and loved the program and opportunities offered by the school. I fell in love with public health and specifically maternal and child health in my undergraduate classes at Tulane and knew I wanted to continue my studies through the MPH program. I also wasn't ready to leave New Orleans yet.
Why are you interested in volunteering as an SPHTM Student Ambassador?
I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from the SPHTM and for the many great experiences I have had within the program, and I want to inspire other people to further their public health education within the SPHTM, especially other potential combined-degree students
What's your dream job?
I am passionate about maternal health and the health and human rights of incarcerated and previously incarcerated individuals, particularly women. I hope to one day work at the intersection of maternal health and incarcerated health and create programs and policies for mothers and birthing people that work to both improve their healthcare and quality of life during and after incarceration, as well as to better support them without the need for involvement from the criminal legal system.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
My advice would be that public health is a massive field that includes to much, and to get a good, broad, understanding of different aspects of public health to find what you are most passionate about.
Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?
Yoga, Reading, Cats, Traveling, Painting
What is the best thing about being a student at SPHTM thus far?
My favorite part about being a student at SPHTM so far has been participating in the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health scholars program and having the opportunity to represent SPHTM at the 2022 American Public Health Association in Boston.
