A brief statement on health equity and Trans Day of Visibility

Across the country, state legislators are threatening and removing human rights from trans folx at an alarming rate. Trans adolescents and youths are facing the threat of removal and prohibition of services to support their health and personhood. These include medical care, access to necessary treatments, criminal prosecution of said care and treatments and threat of parental rights loss, removal of access to bathrooms, sports, and safe learning environments. 

Today, on Trans Day of Visibility, we raise our voices to advocate for the inalienable human rights of Trans folx in our homes, in our schools, and in our communities.

As a community of scholars and practitioners, SPHTM commit ourselves to the work of health equity and justice, grounded in the shared belief that health is a human right.

Our local Queer and Trans community will be meeting at Washington Square at 5:30pm today to march in solidarity and support for trans autonomy. Many marches are also happening across the country today. For more information and to learn how to support, please see below:
