Biography

Dr. Andréa Kaniuka is an interdisciplinary scholar, with a background in psychology, public health, and gender, sexuality, and women's studies. Her work focuses on LGBTQ+ health inequities, with emphases on social-ecological approaches to mental health promotion and suicide prevention among the LGBTQ+ community. Prior to joining Tulane SPHTM, she earned her PhD in Public Health Sciences from UNC Charlotte. At Tulane SPHTM, she teaches and advises students in the online MPH in Community Health Sciences and online DrPH in Leadership, Advocacy, and Equity programs.
