Discover Our Areas of Specialization

At WSPH, your degree program gives you deep expertise in your field - but you don't have to stop there.

Areas of Specialization let you build a secondary focus alongside your degree, at no extra cost

Courses taken within an Area of Specialization count toward your elective requirements, so there are no additional credit hours. Just four courses, 12 credits, and a sharper professional profile.

Three Areas of Specialization are currently available.

The MCH Specialization is ideal for students who intend to work toward the health and well-being of mothers, children, and families, or in the field of reproductive health and family planning. Faculty conduct cross-cutting research that combines MCH with issues of health equity, implementation science, violence prevention, mental health care, disaster management, and more.

The Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ID Epi) Area of Specialization is transdisciplinary, emphasizing the integration of infectious disease biology with rigorous epidemiologic methods.
