Why did you choose to attend Tulane?

After extensive research, I chose Tulane because of the goal and mission of Tulane WSPH aligns with the approaches I would like to take with my leadership training as a DrPH student. Tulane's mission of advancing global health through innovative research and equitable solutions resonates with my professional goals, which focuses on fostering impactful public health leadership, and contributing to research during my academic career and after as a future alumna.

What's your dream job?

My dream job is to serve as a Director of a Maternal and Child Health Program dedicated to improving the health and well-being of perinatal and postpartum mothers and their infants. I have presented research that underscores the significance of this work, particularly the effects of postpartum depression on mother-infant bonding and cardiovascular disease. Through the DrPH program, I aim to strengthen my leadership skills and apply the knowledge gained to develop and implement evidence-based interventions that create meaningful, real-world impact.

What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?

My advice to someone thinking about pursing a public health degree is to find a public health issue you're interested in, develop a skill that could help alleviate that issue, and become a subject matter expert on it. Oftentimes, students pursue a public health degree but have no direction on where to go from there. Pick a skill that you can apply to your degree and excel in both.

Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?

I am a very active person so I enjoy strength training, power lifting, and running. When I'm not working out, you can find me either traveling, reading new books, or cooking new recipes. Fun fact: I'm currently learning Spanish and I love it!

What is the best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far?

The best thing about being a student at WSPH thus far is the sincerity of the professors and collaborating with my cohort. It feels good to connect with like-minded people who are passionate about public health and how we are the future leaders that will make ground breaking decisions one day.
