Why did you choose to attend Tulane?
I chose the MCH program based on my own personal experiences as well as what I have witnessed in the workforce. Across all of the healthcare specialties I worked in following my undergraduate degree, the maternal and child populations were and severely underserved. I wanted to ensure that when decisions were being made, as a collective, public health officials and healthcare providers were keeping them in the forefront. WSPH's Maternal and Child Health program has offered me insight in addition to the required knowledge to go forth and make sustainable change in spaces where it is needed the most.
What's your dream job?
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
Public health is the core of healthcare in my opinion. As someone who has worked in general healthcare, the ways in which public health influences and strengthens the lives and wellbeing of people is truly inspiring.
Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?
I love exploring the city, thrift shopping, decorating, find new places to eat and learning the way things are pronounced here in New Orleans! There is truly no other city like this.
What is the best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far?
Connections, both personal and professional, has been my favorite part thus far. I learn inside and outside of the classroom, and I attribute that to all of the wonderful, passionate people here at Tulane who support and care for students in all aspects. Having a strong support system away from my family has been the biggest blessing.
