Why did you choose to attend Tulane?
I chose to attend Tulane's WSPH mainly for the tropical medicine program, which felt like a strong fit given my goals. I wanted to be challenged and step out of my comfort zone with my degree, and I knew that the MPHTM would not only build on my previous knowledge but also give me academic experiences that were completely new to me. When I visited WSPH, every person I met, from deans to advisors to faculty, was interested in who I was, what I wanted out of this program, and how they could best assist me in reaching my goals. WSPH felt like a place where I could learn and grow, which I really value!
What's your dream job?
My dream job is to work in infection control & prevention or infectious disease epidemiology, ideally in either a hospital system or local/state government.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
I think the best piece of advice I have is to find a niche that you personally find interesting. Your classes will be much more enjoyable if you study something of interest to you, and you'll be able to network with professors and classmates who are also interested in the same thing. Use that network to your advantage.
Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?
I really enjoy hanging out with my friends, exploring different areas around the city, and finding new coffee shops to go to! I also enjoy cross-stitching, reading, and painting.
What is the best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far?
I think the best thing about being a student at WSPH is all of the events and resources I've been able to take advantage of! I've been able to explore the city, meet new people, and try a lot of new things. The professors are also amazing, they are very interested in their fields and have a lot of great stories!
