Why did you choose to attend Tulane?
My path to choosing Tulane WSPH is a little different because it began with my undergraduate experience at Tulane University. Over the years, I became deeply connected to the New Orleans community through volunteering, exploring the city, and building relationships. That sense of belonging made me want to stay. As a combined MHA student, I started graduate coursework during my senior year, and I've never felt more energized by my classes. That passion was fueled by professors who genuinely care about our growth and push us to get the most out of the program. Even during the interview process, my program director's enthusiasm stood out, not just for the curriculum, but for the resources and support available to students. That made me confident and excited to continue my journey at Tulane SPHTM.
What's your dream job?
My dream job has evolved from my pre-med curriculum and aspirations, but healthcare has always been at the center. Whether I become a hospital CEO or a provider, I'm driven by a commitment to patient-centered care and improving health systems. I want to be in a role where I can lead change and make a tangible impact.
What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?
Public health is all encompassing, from healthcare to education to business. If you're even slightly curious, lean into that interest. This field welcomes people from all backgrounds and passions, and it offers real, measurable impact on communities, including your own.
Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?
As a retired track and field athlete, I've been discovering newfound interests. I still love working out, and I've recently started taking dance classes. I also enjoy exploring New Orleans like trying new restaurants, attending local music and art events, and soaking in the culture that makes this city so special.
What is the best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far?
Tulane has a truly welcoming environment. Professors and faculty are deeply invested in our success. It not just academically, but professionally and personally. I've learned that the real value of being here isn't just the coursework, but the relationships, resources, and opportunities that help us grow into the leaders we're meant to be.
