Why did you choose to attend Tulane?

I chose Tulane because I wanted to train at an institution with strong medical and public health programs, both deeply rooted in health equity and committed to serving the surrounding community. As a future physician, I hope to provide excellent clinical care while also acting as an advocate for health equity in underserved communities. Tulane WSPH is the perfect place to build my foundation in public health leadership. The practicum program and integrative learning experience give students the opportunity to translate classroom knowledge into meaningful, real-world impact. Being in New Orleans meant that I would be learning from diverse patient populations and engaging with a wide range of public health challenges. So, I knew that going to Tulane would prepare me to be a powerful changemaker in both medicine and public health.

What's your dream job?

I am in between being either a psychiatrist or a subspecialist within internal medicine. No matter the speciality, however, I know I want to split my time with clinic a few days a week and helping to implement, improve, and evaluate public health interventions the other days. I'm really passionate about preventative medicine, so I would love to be able to counsel my patients both in the clinic at an individual level and through broader public health programming at the population level.

What advice would you give someone thinking about getting a degree in public health?

Although recent policy may suggest otherwise, public health is a necessary and impactful field! Framing health outcomes with the determinants and systems that are influencing them broadens your perspective on health & medicine, which is greatly rewarding. If you're passionate about health and enjoy looking at problems through a multidisciplinary lens, then public health is the field for you.

Any hobbies, interests, etc. outside of public health?

I'm a huge foodie, so I love restaurant hopping in the greater New Orleans area and trying new cuisines. I also love gardening, taking care of my houseplants, reading, and watching football & basketball.

What is the best thing about being a student at Tulane thus far?

The community for sure! Everyone at Tulane is very genuine and wanting to see everyone succeed, which is awesome. I feel like all the students and faculty come from a variety of backgrounds and have so many cool experiences, so it's always fun to swap stories and hear about how people made it to Tulane.
