Dear SPHTM Friends and Family,
It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?
We’ve all been distracted by some bigger issues. A global pandemic. Vaccine hesitancy. Mask wars. Hurricanes, floods, and fires. Racism. Challenges to women’s healthcare. A refugee crisis. And public health plays into all of these issues. As a profession, we have been very, very busy.
Like all of you, I hope that we’re beginning to resume some more normal routines and activities. We are looking forward to in-person conferences like APHA and ASTMH. Tulane is preparing for the Wave ’21 Homecoming and Reunion. And this fall, our residential students resumed fully in-person classes. It feels good.
And as you can see, we’re resuming publication of our biannual magazine, SPHTM Magazine. In these pages you’ll have a chance to check in with some of the research our faculty have been working on. You’ll learn about some of the ways our online programs are reaching out and making a Tulane education more inclusive. And you’ll see how we’re bringing back the degree program we started – the Master of Medical Management degree for healthcare professionals.
There’s lots of news and information packed into this edition. We hope you enjoy it.
Best regards,
