Preconception Period Analysis of Risks and Exposures Influencing Development and Disease
The goal of the PrePARED consortium is to use the large number of studies, cross-sectional and longitudinal data, and mix of studies to: 1) Identify clinically meaningful effect sizes of preconception exposures; 2) Examine hypotheses related to preconception health where there is frequently substantial confounding; 3) Distinguish pre-, during-, inter-, and post-pregnancy effects; 4) Distinguish selection effects due to differential fertility and pregnancy loss; 5) Identify likely mechanisms; 6) Examine rare-prevalence exposures and outcomes; and 7) Examine interactions between preconception exposures and other factors (e.g., sex-specific effects, racial-ethnicity effects).
