In New Orleans, frequent and intense rainfall results in localized flooding. The Urban Conservancy supports stormwater management through small-scale interventions including rain barrels and gardens. Frequently, flooding occurs in already socially vulnerable neighborhoods and extended storage of rainwater can increase larval development sites for vector mosquito populations. Service-learning students collected data in the Hoffman Triangle Neighborhood in a partnership approach to research that equitably involves community members.
