The MPH in Disaster Management program prepares professionals to apply scientific principles to prevent, detect, and mitigate environmental public health problems and threats associated with natural and technological disasters- locally to globally. Students gain skills to implement population-based interventions to protect communities, particularly vulnerable populations, from natural, accidental, and intentional disasters. This MPH offering is intended for both pre-professionals and mid-career individuals. Students typically have a background in a life or physical science or engineering.

The MPH degree in Disaster Management requires a total of 45 credits that includes:
SPHTM - Core Courses (15 Credits)
MPH in Disaster Management - Required Courses (22 Credits)
Elective Courses (8 credits)
Selected from courses offered within the department, school, or university in consultation with an academic advisor.
Practicum (SPHL 9980)
All Disaster Management students complete a 200 hour practicum to gain practical experience. The practicum is usually completed after core courses are completed.
Culminating Experience (SPHL 7950)
Students in the MPH in Disaster Management conduct a public health analysis.
