Master's Degree Programs All professional and pre-professional master's degrees require a minimum of 42 credits. The academic degree of MS requires a minimum of 36 credits. Peace Corps/Master's International Program More than 230 Peace Corps volunteers have been placed in 32 developing countries since the program's inception at Tulane in 1988. It is the largest of its kind in the United States. Students simultaneously apply to Tulane and the Peace Corps, obtaining their master of science in public health degree (MSPH) or master of public health degree (MPH) with 42 academic credits and successful Peace Corps service. The U.S. Peace Corps and Tulane University have partnered to promote international opportunities to Louisiana residents by creating a satellite office in New Orleans. The office, being sponsored by the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, serves as a resource center for applicants.
MD/MPH Program The MD/MPH program is designed for students who want to complete a medical degree and a public health degree in four years. Preventive Medicine Residency for Physicians This unique program, co-sponsored by the medical and public health schools, is designed to train residents for careers in academic, administrative and /or clinical preventive medicine/public health. The two-year program is designed to fulfill requirements leading to certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
