Aubrey Spriggs Madkour is an Associate Professor in the Maternal and Child Health section. My disciplinary lenses are developmental science, social work, maternal and child health, and social epidemiology. My areas of expertise are adolescent and young adult (AYA) development, AYA substance use, AYA partner violence, AYA sexual behavior, and social epidemiology. Current projects include a quantitative analysis of PSID data to investigate contextual influences on developmental trajectories of binge alcohol use in the transition to young adulthood; a qualitative project examining the reasons for heroin use initiation among New Orleans youth; and an RCT of an online teen pregnancy prevention program targeted to 18-19 year old African American young women in New Orleans. I teach a masters-level course in Adolescent Health (GCHB 6470) and a doctoral-level course in Social Determinants of Health (GCHB 8750).
