Dr. De Anda-Duran is a cardiovascular risk and brain health epidemiologist with a diverse training background. She studied medicine at Universidad Autonoma de Baja, California, in Mexico and became a medical doctor in 2016. She obtained a master’s in Public Health and Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2020. Before joining the Tulane faculty, Dr. De Anda-Duran was a postdoctoral fellow for the American Heart Strategically Focused Research Network, entitled “Integrated Digital Technology Platform for Optimization of Precision Brain Health,” at Boston University and Tulane University. Dr. De Anda-Duran’s scientific goal is to identify interventions that can impact brain health at the population level and reduce the disproportionate burden of dementia in racial and ethnic minorities. Her research is centered around 1) investigating cardiovascular pathways to healthy cognitive aging, 2) utilizing decentralized technology-based approaches that may overcome research barriers and generate advanced digital measures more sensitive than traditional metrics, and 3) precision-based strategies to identify individuals who benefit most from cardiovascular risk control.
