Tulane University, including the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, has resumed normal operations. Low water pressure is still a concern across metro New Orleans, and the boil water alert continues. Therefore, DO NOT consume any water from anywhere in the building.

 

SPHTM response to Ebola

Alumnus Lee Gary (GEHS MPH '10) served as the WASH coordinator for the Makeni Ebola Treatment Center in Sierra Leone during the height of the Ebola epidemic. He supervised sanitary operations from moderating infection control systems to incinerating protective gear, among other duties.

Tulane is an official collaborating institution with the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN). Faculty of the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine contributed their expertise in the response to the 2014-16 outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa and to the public's understanding of the disease.
