International Applicant Information
Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine has a long-standing commitment to global public health service and values the unique insight and experience that international students bring to the classroom environment. International students are encouraged to apply to the school at least six months prior to their anticipated date of matriculation to allow adequate application and visa processing time. If this is not possible, the Office of Admissions will work closely with the applicant in order to meet his or her immediate needs. Application Instructions for International Students - Complete a SOPHAS application.SOPHAS is an online centralized application service used by many Schools of Public Health. Please use the site to complete an application, submit a statement of purpose, upload a resume, and submit three letters of recommendation. In addition, please send the following official documents directly to SOPHAS: official transcripts from all previously attended academic institutions, and official test score reports. (GRE and TOEFL).
- Please note that applicants from some countries are eligible for SOPHAS fee waivers. Please contact SOPHAS for specific details at the number listed below.
- Applicants seeking an expedited review of their application are encouraged to send additional official copies of transcripts and score reports directly to Tulane at theaddress below.
- Please be aware that Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine now accepts three forms of TOEFL scores:paper-based, internet-based, and computer-based. A minimum TOEFL score of 570 is required for the paper-based test; a minimum score of 230 is required for the computer-based test; and a minimum score of 88 is required on the internet-based test.
- TOEFL scores are preferred over IELTS scores.

Financial documentation and visa processing - Return a certification of support accepting financial responsibility for your first year of support (minimum $52,930.00).
- Provide a certified bank document showing minimum of $52,930.00 in support.
- Submit signed visa clearance form if you're transferring from another U.S. university.
- Submit copy of visa along with statement of what type visa you hold for international students. The visa must include a United States address.
- Submit copy of new visa for international students not already in the United States.
- Sumbit proof of an additional $8000.00 in funding for spouse and $4,000.00 in funding per dependent. Statement must include full name and birth date of spouse and dependent(s) you wish to bring to the United States, as well as a copy of each one's passport (required).
