Health Promotion Practicum Program Each semester, the PRC offers up to three practica with PRC partners. Past interships have been hosted by the Office of Recovery and Development Administration, Steps to a Healthier LA/New Orleans, the Renaissance Project, YMCA New Orleans, Women with a Vision, and KaBOOM! Under the program, Interns are required to work a total of 200 hours for the designated organization in a health promotion capacity. Students are also required to fulfill all reporting requirements mandated by the School’s practicum manual. Each accepted student will receive a $1,500.00 stipend. If desired by both the student and the organization, the student may work with the host organization for an additional 100 hours for the student’s “culminating experience,” but the PRC will not provide additional funds for this extension. (Please note that the hours requirement and the stipend have aligned to coordinate with the changes to the School's practicum requirements.) In April of 2008, four PRC practica students received awards in a departmental poster session contest. To learn more, visit this page. The program is generally announced at the end of each semester for the following semester. Please check back at this site for further announcements. The program is also announced via Tulane SPHTM list serves and through elevator notices.
